hat Head is protected by southerly winds and the Lagoon is protected by east winds. If the wind turns North / North east you will find protection at Little Beach, third Beach and Connors Beach. So there is always somewhere to swim and surf with clean beautiful conditions.

The proximity of the continental shelf is only 12 nautical miles off shore from boat ramp at the caravan park. Whale watching at the Gap and from the main beach and the top of Korogoora mountain. The Hat Head National Park offers visitor the opportunity to experience nature at it best. Walking tracks around the Korogoora Point peninsula Hat Head trig to enjoy 360 degree views, Hungry Rest Area. Native flora and fauna abound and spectacular sand dunes form a barrier between the ocean and the wildflower strewn headlands and wetlands. Korogoora Creek winds its way through the village until it meets the ocean. The creek provides a popular site for all age’s babies to grannies, you can swim, play, paddle a canoe, fish, get a board and just float up or down the creek. Snorkel along the rocky outcrops see the beautiful sea life. Have a game of tennis. Have a game of bowls or a game of pool or a meal or a drink at the Hat Head Bowling Club. We have 2 shops both sell grocery, paper milk, bread, take away food and pizza. One the P.O. and general store has petrol. Have a look at Sue gift shop and you can also buy fresh fish, prawns, and bait next door at hubbies Vins Jordon Fish and Bait Shop.

Hat Head Golfing

Have a game of golf at the 9 hole course just 6 minutes out of town. It costs about $5 bucks and offers beautiful surroundings to have a few beers afterwards. Make sure you say hello to 'Missy' the local Border Collie that if you ask nicely, she will look for your lost gold balls!
